Devil's Backbone All day tour to the Devil's Backbone. An unforgettable tour for moderately-experienced riders is the all-day ride to Espinazo del Diablo, the Devil's Backbone. The tour begins in the center of Old town Mazatlan early in the morning. We drive along the International Highway to the Durango Road which begins its climb gradually at first, but as we climb, all of your riding skills will be put to the test as the route with its switchback turns and elevation changes is considered one of the most challenging highways in all of Mexico. It is hard to describe the feeling of hard over turns from one side to the other for more than 100 miles. As the road goes higher and higher, it is easy to see how you are leaving the coastal plains behind and are weaving your way into the alpine woods of fir and spruce trees with remarkable views into the valleys below. At the top is an unforgettable view of the rock formations known as the Espinazo Del Diablo. The photo opportunities here are endless. The trip back down is even more exhilarating than the trip up the mountain. This is a long all-day tour of approximately eight hours.
